Gluebomb '32 roadster rebuild, Engine, 2/6/11

Got a sad little '32 roadster cheap on ebay. Headlights not from this kit, but who knows? Though there's an engine in it, looks like a Ford FE maybe with a 6X2 log manifold, for some strange reason the hood is glued shut with a LOT of glue. Much much glue.

I got some of it apart and started fooling around, came up with this.

Kinda hard to do anything new with a deuce roadster, but I've got a couple of not-too-common tweeks. Body is channeled more in the rear than in front to subtly change the profile. Though it looks like the rear axle is too far back, it's lens distortion. In actuality, the front axle is moved forward a couple of scale inches to give it a little leaner look than the typical highboy. The spring will have to be mounted behind a dropped axle to accomplish this, rather than over it, as is usual. The DuVall windshield makes it a little racier and gives it a longer-hood look.

Wide whites on 16 inch steel wheels and the big headlights (Packard? Rolls? ) that came with it complete the look and peg it in late '40s or early '50s. It's going to be black. When I succeed in getting the hood open without destroying the body, I'm thinking this is definitely a flathead car. Split front wishbones but not rear. Front axle will be the dropped-and-filled piece from the later Ala-Kart kit.....then again, maybe a '49 Olds or Caddy engine in it.
